About LiveWire
Congratulations on your purchase of LiveWire™! LiveWire appliances uniquely combine flow-based reporting using deep packet inspection (DPI) with high-speed, packet capture and storage. LiveWire is designed to work with LiveAction’s LiveNX, an innovative network performance visualization and analytics solution. LiveWire provides visibility in areas where flow-based data is typically not readily available, and is optimized for data center visibility.
Because LiveWire starts with packet data, it is able to provide a unique, and extended, set of flow-based monitoring data called LiveFlow. LiveFlow is extended IPFIX data and is exported to LiveNX, where the complete network topology is visualized. LiveNX stores monitoring data for both long-term reporting and real-time alerting. Regardless of the depth of LiveFlow data, there are inevitably times when packets are required for detailed, root-cause analysis. Since LiveWire is also storing all of the packets while simultaneously generating LiveFlow, issues identified on real-time LiveNX dashboards can easily be analyzed in detail, down to the packet level, by simply identifying an alert or a flow that needs further investigation. LiveWire comes in a variety of platforms to provide visibility from the network edge (small, numerous branch offices) to the data center. See Sending Telemetry to LiveNX for the additional tasks you must perform in order to export LiveFlow data from LiveWire to LiveNX. Please also refer to the LiveNX documentation for more information on using the LiveFlow data exported to LiveNX.
